How to Make a Frappuccino (Easy Recipe)

What is a Frappuccino?

Before the Frappuccino recipe, let's discuss what a Frappuccino is. Despite being one of the most popular drinks in the U.S. (Starbucks makes $2 billion a year on it), few people know what it is.

Simply put, the Frappuccino is an iced coffee blend sold only through Starbucks. Inspired by frappe and cappuccino, it is made from cold and delicious coffee. This drink will typically be based on an instant coffee roast or cream. It will likely include a flavored base, syrups, spices, and whipped cream.

How to Make a Frappuccino:

1. Make the coffee.

To begin, you need to make coffee. Follow the instructions for whichever coffee brand you selected. Once again, we want to reiterate that the coffee needs to be strong. A weak coffee won't let the sweeteners and milk shine through.

2. Blend the ingredients.

After you finish the coffee, blend all the ingredients. Leave out the whipped cream and toppings. In other words, you should combine the ice, coffee, milk, sweetener, and spices. If you don't have a blender, you can mix the ingredients together by hand. For best results, use a blender until the ingredients are blended well.

3. Add toppings.

Once all the ingredients are blended well, pour the drink into your chilled mug. Then, add the whipped cream and more toppings if desired. For a Caramel Frappuccino, don't forget the caramel sauce on top.

4. Serve immediately.

Finally, you can enjoy your Frappuccino. Serve the drink immediately so that it doesn't have time to melt. Depending on the thickness, you may need a spoon or a straw.

Easy Frappuccino Recipe

Equipment Needed:

  • High-speed blender
  • Tall glass (chilled)
  • Spoon

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups ice cubes (crushed work best)
  • 1 cup of espresso or coffee
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp sweetener
  • Whipped cream (optional)

Optional Variations:

You can customize your Frappuccino with these variations:

  • Java Frappuccino: Add 1 handful of chocolate chips to the base (before blending).
  • Mocha Frappuccino: Add 3 tbsp of cocoa powder to the base (before blending). Top with chocolate sauce.
  • Caramel Frappuccino: Add 1 tbsp of caramel sauce to the base or as a topping.

More Tips

Chill your glass.

For the best experience, chill your glass or mug overnight in the freezer. The frost on the mug will create a delicious edge to the drink and help keep it cold longer.

Use strong coffee.

Use strong coffee or espresso. You'll add milk and sweeteners, so the coffee flavor must not be lost.

Experiment with milk options.

Use any type of milk. Try whole, almond, oat, or coconut for different flavors.
